That really brightened up my day after a terrible biology test. And I mean terrible.

I love studying for biology exams. :)

So you know, two rhizopus are just chillin on the substrate, bread or whatevs. And then they're like "omg, you're a + and I'm a -, let's swell!" And all the nuclei go into the swellings and they make a progametangia.. And then it's all, "we're badass, let's make cross walls", so they do, and then the other walls dissolve and FERTILISATION takes place, and produces diploid zygote nuclei and they're all chilling, and a zygospore comes along and he's all, "Can I hang out here? If the conditions are favourable, we can germinate by mitosis." And as usual, a hyphae comes along even though no one really wants him there, and he takes his gf sporangium, but she just chills at the tip. And out of no where, she was quiet all night, she'll open and produce haploid spores.

I have never ever received an A in English before. Although I'm "hilarious" and should "write for TV" I'm not an A standard. Which translates as, "I don't give a tiny rat's ass and do my essays in the class before they're due" (this one was a week late). And can I just point out, she's not one to hand out A's. She doesn't exactly baby us, or go easy when it comes to grades. So you know, I'm amazing.

I promise I won't be like this tomorrow, I just want to remember how good this made me feel. :D

Ace of Aoife, I don't understand colours either.

This blog post goes out to Aoife. I told her that she should make some rainbow cupcakes, but she said she didn't get the difference between indigo and violet. And, after thinking about this.. I realised I didn't either. So I did some googling. Here is violet and here is indigo. Now being honest here, all of those pictures are either blue or purple. And there's some almost identical on both colours. So I turned to our good friend Wikipedia..

As the name of a color, violet (named after the flower violet) is used in two senses: first, referring to the color of light at the short-wavelength end of the visible spectrum, approximately 380–420 nm when indigo is recognized as a distinct spectrum color, or more commonly 380–450 nm (this is a spectral color). Second, violet may refer to a shade of purple, that is, a mixture of red and blue light, and not a spectral color (see a discussion of the distinction between violet and purple). Spectral violet is outside the gamut of typical RGB color spaces, and although it can be approximated by that color shown below as electric violet, it cannot be reproduced exactly on a computer screen.

For the record, this means nothing to me.

Indigo is the color on the electromagnetic spectrum between about 420 and 450 nm in wavelength, placing it between blue and violet. Although traditionally considered one of seven divisions of the optical spectrum, modern color scientists do not usually recognize indigo as a separate division and generally classify wavelengths shorter than about 450 nm as violet. Those who do accept indigo as a separate spectrum color regard its wavelength as being from approximately 420 nm to 450 nm.

Like violet, whether indigo is considered a shade of purple depends on context. I'm just chillin', you know. Just chillin. My siblings have Hannah Montana on in the background. I turned around for a second, while I was waiting for a video to load. And it just struck me that, aside from anything else, Miley Cyrus has got to be the worst actress ever. I looked her up on Wikipedia, and according to that.. "Cyrus became interested in acting when she was nine, and took classes at the Armstrong Acting Studio while her family lived in Toronto, Canada." I do believe that is a lie. Seriously, I can't understand that.. And if you don't think this is true, just watch one of the shows with a critical eye, and compare it to any other show. Then you'll see how bad her acting is.
However, I just read further down, and I saw that she's been quoted as saying, although it contradicts the first part.. "I've not taken, like, acting lessons or anything, but it doesn’t mean I don’t need to because I’m sure I do [...] I’m probably going to go book an acting coach."

So let me ask you something.. Do you give to beggars/homeless people?
Today I was walking along the street, when a, I can only assume beggar woman stopped me and asked could I do something for her.. And I was surprised, and asked what she wanted. She said she wasn't looking for money, but could I buy her and sandwich as she as "dying of the hunger", to which I replied of course. I like to be generous and all that, you know. Anyway, I said get what you like, but I don't have that much money on me.. So she went ahead and ordered.. A beef, egg, mayonnaise, lettuce and onion sandwich. Now, let's not judge the sandwich for the moment. Each to their own. But hello? That's pretty expensive. It ended up at €4. That's a lot, especially seeing as I was claiming to only have ten on me (I actually had 30, but whatever). I reluctantly agreed to buy it anyway. But then, when I got to the counter, she had a drink on it. I told her, I couldn't afford to get her both, and she replied that she'd be thirsty and needed it. I was firm and told her well, I can just not get the sandwich then. Eventually she saw I wasn't backing down, and gave up. But, when she opened her trolley I happened to notice, a bottle of milk, and a packet of rich tea biscuits. I actually felt like punching her in the face. First of all, she asks me to buy her a sandwich when she clearly had food in her bag. Second of all, she orders a really expensive one. And thirdly, she tried to get me to buy her a drink too, which was €1.90 by the way, with out asking.

I am so pissed off. Gah. You try to be kind to those less fortunate, and yet they throw it back in your face. Bitch. Has this every happened to you?

It's been since.. Thursday since I had a proper Coke. I had a diet on Saturday, and SOME cheap stuff on Sunday. And considering I've gone from everyday, to four days, is pretty good. And if you're reading this, and thinking "it's terrible, her drinking that much Coke etc" Think of how often you drink coffee or tea. Yeah, it's the caffeine.

On a side note, is it just me, or is that "LOL jk" thing that's been floating around Facebook for the past few days really annoying? The only one that I so much cracked a smile at was "Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly, away... LOL jk there's volcanic ash cloud."
And, I should probably point out, I lavved the turban thing. Turban Outfitters.. *chortle chortle chortle*

Wowzer.

It's lovely Sunday morning.
I went to an 18th last night. The girl, who is from Romania, invited her family over from Romania to Ireland, and for some of them, it was their first visit. And let's just say, the party was hoppin'. Really. I have never seen people, let alone the "elderly" move the way they did. On a side note, the highlight of my night had to have been her grandparents dancing to The Bad Touch, by the Bloodhound Gang. They've little to no English, so they've no idea what it means. It made me laugh so hard. It was so surreal, the whole thing. I've never experienced anything like it before.

On a side note, I did that thing, where you put down your phone (thankfully, it happened once I got home) and then you can't find it anywhere. I had to call it this morning, and it was under my covers? I had checked there twice last night. Anyway. I also had a funny moment, where I fell over in my room. I wish I'd caught it on video, because it was so idiotic.

I'm dreading this next week though, I've to survive on less than €1. Gah.
Over the past while, I've become obsessed with French. It's starting to become a problem. I'm starting to look up the charts over there, to listen to their music, and it's pretty good.. Even if I don't really know what it means. I found this guy, Christophe Mae that way.. From what I've listened to, he sounds pretty cool.

TV and Movie update for the week:
I started watching "the Lovely Bones" on Friday, because I was off school sick. I think I'll finish it today. Yeah, I'm weird like that and sometimes watch movies in sections. I'm 40 minutes into it.
Glee was good this week, wasn't it? The one about being a bad-ass. I didn't like the one last week.. Or the Madonna one. Well, the Madonna one was okay. I think I died so many times during that one where Mercedes sang that Christina Aguilera song about being beautiful. I support a positive self image, but that was sickening.
I've caught up with America on the Desperate Housewives front, and ohmyGod, funniest scene ever between Mike, Susan, Gabby and Carlos. I was laughing so hard at it! And it takes a horribly sinister turn D: je n'aime pas! :(

A six year old boy, Ming Ming, from China, apparently fell out of his apartment window, but was saved due to his ears, yes those pieces of cupped cartilage at the side of your head, getting caught between the grate and holding him there.
As I'm terrified of heights, you can only imagine the mini-sick I had while looking at the picture. Imagine dangling eight floors from the ground? No no no, wait, imagine dangling eight floors from the concrete ground being held up by your ears?

This reminds me of a story a friend of mine once told me about how she used to sit on the balcony of the 6th floor of the flats she lived in. What's so strange about that? Oh nothing, except when I say "on the balcony" what I mean is, on the actually bar that makes the balcony. Except, her's was concrete.

When she told me this, I nearly threw up. And every time I remember it, I nearly throw up. She could've so easily fallen, and died. And still to this day, she doesn't know what possessed her to do that. Let alone regularly.

Gah! I get so easily scared!

il y a longtemps que je t'aime

I went to see, "il y a longtemps que je t'aime" today, with my French class. I really really enjoyed it, however the blurb made it out to be as if her sister knew nothing of her crime, not that she didn't know how she'd done said crime. It was really good all the same. I really noticed the difference between American/English films and French films with this film, especially with both the actors, and the plot.
The plot was very.. bizzare in comparision to, for example, the past few films I've seen since January.
The thing that stood out to me about the actors were their imperfections. Usually in American films, no so much English, but still to some degree, the actors are made-up to an inch of their lives. Not in this case. Kirstin Scott Thomas had very unruly eyebrows, which was probably to convey something about how she didn't care about her self anymore because he son had died, and she didn't want to take care of her appearance. Or maybe they just weren't arsed.

I'm sorry, but this is what society has come to? There are children starving in the world.. There are people homeless, left on the streets.. There are people killing themselves.. Yet no. This is what we will draw attention to. A boy wearing his trousers low. Really? Call me conventional, but I think there are more important things in the world than the way someone dresses. Yes, I agree that generally boys who wear their trousers low tend to take part in anti-social behaviour. It's a generalisation, but I think it's a valid one at that. However, having said that, pulling up a boy's trousers will, by no means, discourage him from anti-social behaviour. So ultimately, that was all very pointless, and a waste of time, effort and money.


Oh, for anyone who cares, I decided the best method to the debate was to "wing it" ie, show up with nothing and see how it goes. I got singled out in the first debate (SCARLATIONS) as the best speaker and used as an example to everyone else (that doesn't happen to me *blushes*), and my team won the second. We kicked ASS. We didn't get through to the final though, as we came third in the first, and ended up with four points. It was amazing fun though and I had a great day!

I just read this article on Yahoo News and I'm concerned, to say the least. Can I just point out that I'm all for loving who you want, and all that. But there's a line you can't cross. This wouldn't even happen in Wuthering Heights for crying out loud.

When I saw this, my jaw dropped. The poor baby. I can't believe another woman would actually carry these people's child. That she actually agrees with it, enough to have their baby. I'm horrified to my very core. Imagine kissing your grandparents. Like, Frenching your granny.
"For the first time in years I felt sexually alive." I'm sorry, but ew.
I've no doubt they will love their baby, and be better parents than many of the parents out there today, but really, that's no kind of enviornment for a baby to grow up in. I'm losing my faith in human nature, day by day.

Finally.

A Vanilla Day

But drenched in vanilla twilight,
I'll sit on the front porch all night,
Waist-deep in thought because,
When I think of you, I don't feel so alone..

Today was a good day.. A vanilla day ^^,

I bought the lovely vanilla perfume from the Body Shop, and two candles, for €1 each in Penneys. YUM.

Then I had ice-cream.

Oops, I've left a candle unattended. D:

Today was a good day. I went to town, and ate a ton of food and drank two energy drinks. I think I may have a heart attack later, but it was worth it.
Instead of stealing music off my friends, as per usual, I actually bought an album. And that was Mr. Owl City. I really love his music, it's my night-time-I'm-going-to-sleep-now-bye music. If that's a genre. I miss my old computer, it had all my Owl City music on it :(
